I love pizza! So much so, that I crave it. But pizza is not a very healthy choice for me because of all the bread. So, when I get that craving, I make a pizza skillet and avoid the unnecessary calories and carbs. This recipe is great because you can customize it based on what your favorite toppings are. Also, you can use up what has been hanging out in your fridge and freezer for almost too long.

Pizza Skillet

Pizza is a classic dinner idea. But, instead of building toppings on a crust, build it right inside a cast iron skillet so you can cook it on the stove and then pop it in the oven.

Instructions

Stove Top

  1. In a cast iron skillet, brown your ground beef, onions, spices and garlic.

  1. Once the meat mixture is completely cooked, drain off grease.

  1. To your meat mixture, add in shredded mozzarella, pepperoni and marinara sauce.

  1. Next, add another layer of pepperoni and sprinkle some grated parmesan cheese across the top.

  1. Pop that skillet into a preheated 350-degree oven for at least 20 minutes or until the top is melted and toasty.

Note

Use your favorites! Try using ground turkey instead of beef and add some mushrooms and peppers if you like. Whatever you prefer on your pizza can go into this skillet!
